THE LOUDSPEAKER
The No.3 Loudspeaker is a perfect introduction to the fascinating sound world offered by the CORONA plasma tweeter. The construction principle is a two-way loudspeaker with a bass reflex system. The goal of this design is to create a benchmark reference loudspeaker with near compact dimensions and an elegant appearance easy to integrate into any living or listening space.

DESIGN
The biggest challenge with a two-way design such as this is to develop a driver for the midrange and bass frequencies that is perfectly matched to the speed and resolution of a plasma tweeter. The driver itself consists of a special cellulose membrane (paper membrane) with an additional coating. The driver design combines a very fast midrange response with a surprisingly low bottom end. The No.3 model is powerful enough to provide a full sound even in large spaces.

Special attention has been paid to the cabinet design. Extensive bracing and sophisticated interior damping (sandwiched layers) ensure that cabinet vibration is kept to an absolute minimum.
All the components involved in sound reproduction are housed in their own isolated enclosures. The frequency crossover is located in the base plate, sealed inside a layer of quartz sand. This ensures that absolutely no vibrations are transmitted, and none of the components are susceptible to microphony.
The base plate is a one-centimeter-thick aluminum slab which also holds the floor spikes. The loudspeaker cabinet is thus completely decoupled from the floor.

The angled inclination of the narrow baffle is an effective solution for time-correcting the impulse responses from the two transducer systems. The loudspeaker's phase position is perfect at a seated listening height.

Our No. 5 loudspeaker is designed to transport you into the center of a live music experience. The concept behind this speaker is to produce music without any restrictions in terms of dynamic range, frequency spectrum or reproducibility.
Aided by the natural radiance of superbly crafted woods, this loudspeaker model enriches your living space and delivers outstanding sonic results for any type of music reproduction. The music sounds as direct and natural as when it was performed on the stage or in the studio.

DESIGN
In the No.5 loudspeaker, the midrange frequencies are reproduced using a 3” dome driver. The lower the mass of the driver, the faster and more accurate its response will be. The mass moved by this driver is a total of four grams. The dome is coated on the inside, meaning that it is impervious to added mass produced by dust, as is often the case with similarly designed dome drivers. The low total mass of the driver enables a seamless integration of the crucial mid frequency range with the plasma tweeter.

The bass is handled by two 8” long throw drivers. These can achieve a membrane displacement of +/- 22 cm. Despite its unobtrusive dimensions, the No.5 can produce a solid bottom end, well beyond the usual at home volume levels. The meticulously crafted enclosure with sandwiched layers is the basis for the loudspeakers outstanding audio performance. The sandwich design, with flatly glued high efficiency damping material alternated with sound absorption panels, ensures the energy radiated into the enclosure is dispersed very effectively, there is no opportunity for the cabinet to develop any resonant response of its own. A high quality bi-wiring terminal is provided on the back so that the tweeter can be acoustically matched to the room characteristics. With an efficiency rating of 91 dB, the No.5 model is also a very forgiving loudspeaker.

At the heart of this fine loudspeaker system is our proprietary CORONA plasma tweeter. This tweeter represents by far the fastest high frequency reproduction technology available today. Most notably, the components of this tweeter have absolutely no inherent resonant modes, right across an incredible frequency range of 2,500-150,000 Hz! No other tweeter system, regardless of its design principles, is capable of delivering such excellent values. This is due to the plasma tweeter’s ground breaking and innovative functionality. The sound is not transmitted via a membrane made of solid matter, but via the sound transmitting medium itself, the air.

The Midrange Horn complements the plasma tweeter perfectly. This is a completely new type of horn driver design. Because the CORONA plasma tweeter reproduces a fully linear frequency spectrum right to the bottom end of its range, we were able to implement an unusually long horn driver. This double walled horn design is setting new standards in terms of dynamic range, homogeneity, and attention to detail. It is an ideal counterpart to the superb responsiveness of the plasma tweeter.

The Bass Frequencies are handled by an 18 inch woofer with hard suspension. Thanks to its large membrane, this driver needs to produce only very little throw (throw = travel distance = time). Only in this way can the bottom end of the frequency range be reproduced with a similarly quick response as the rest of the loudspeaker system, a perfect match!

The Loudspeaker’s Cabinet Design is also vital to the overall sound quality. A generously braced sandwich design and the use of special thermoformed layer filled with tiny metal balls means that particularly the high energy bass range is damped very efficiently. All the components used for sound reproduction are housed in their own isolated enclosures.
